The History
The beautiful VILLA STORTA was built around the mid-1800s by the noble Grisi–Rodoli family from Piè for summer vacationing. There are records of the attached farmhouse since the mid-1600s when it belonged to the Tapparelli. Subsequently, at the beginning of the 1700s, it passed to the house of the marquises Vitale di Ceva and di San Vitale, who maintained ownership for over 110 years. In 1804, the property was purchased by Francesco Castelli, who in 1824 transferred it to Carlo Anglesio. On July 30, 1831, the latter sold it to Senator Luigi Grisi-Rodoli. The construction work for the Villa took place between 1843 and 1846. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful country residences built in the Saviglianese area during the 19th century.
Particularly interesting is the noble floor, with the grand hall of festivities that occupies the entire north side of the building, masterfully connected to another larger hall that is part of the rustic area. Of particular value are the rooms attached to the main hall, which are also frescoed with paintings dating back to the late nineteenth century. Of notable importance are the inlaid wood paneling made of cherry, chestnut, and oak, the splendid period terracotta floors, and the remarkable blown glass chandeliers. On the upper floor, there are four suites with attached bathrooms, all restored with considerable attention to conservation. On the ground floor, there are other rooms of architectural significance.
Historical Notes
The wonderful complex is completed by the large park of about 4,000 square meters that surrounds the villa, where it is possible to organize high-profile events in the summer, accessed through a picturesque tree-lined avenue of plane trees. Special attention and care are given by our staff to the park and garden adjacent to the resort, which is suitable for aperitifs and civil ceremonies in beautiful weather.
Among the ancient trees in the park, two fountains and a raised hillock, likely a former glacier typical of the 19th-century villas, peek through, which can offer you some truly unique photo opportunities!
